Canadian energy company Enbridge Inc. (NYSE: ENB) and its developer Renewable Energy Systems Americas celebrated today the completion of the $535 million Cedar Point Wind Project.

Cedar Point is a 250-megawatt (MW) wind project in Limon, Colorado. The project will generate enough clean electricity to meet the needs of about 800,000 homes, and eliminate about 783,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

The Cedar Point Wind Project has created more employment opportunities in Colorado, and advanced the state’s renewable energy policy objectives.

Enbridge says that power from its project will be purchased under a long-term contract with a subsidiary of Xcel Energy (NYSE: XEL).

“Wind energy is a key component of Enbridge’s strategy to invest in renewable energy sources that complement our core operations, generate solid returns and stable cash flow, and benefit the environment,” said Al Monaco, President, Gas Pipelines, Green Energy & International.

Enbridge currently has interests in seven wind energy projects, three solar farms, a geothermal plant, four waste heat recovery facilities and fuel cell technology.

That’s all for now,
